Learning Management Case Studies

Royal Academy of Dance

How a new website and content management system have met the needs of existing students and staff while attracting large numbers of new student enquiries.

The challenge the Faculty of Education faced was to maintain the tradition of offering professional awards under its Royal Charter, while promoting the full extent of its courses and programmes which compete against universities on a global scale.

Preview undertook a user assessment to understand the needs of students at the academy, worldwide distant learners and academics which resulted in the specification of the most suitable learning management system. It needed to be flexible enough to meet the needs of different user groups, scalable to cope with the RAD's growth and technically manageable for teachers and students.

The resulting learning management system integrates with RAD's internal systems and provides a flexible site that allows programme heads to update course content, publish student, course or year-specific information, and interact with students.

DISQO

How an innovative new website is centralising learning and beating the education barrier. It does so by giving free, on-demand access to courses and lectures from world-leading universities and schools.

The brief was to create an interactive, education showcase and community for teaching, collaborating and learning. It required the build of a platform which encourages teachers from all over the world to upload their best lessons, lesson plans, lectures, worksheets, interactive modules, videos and other educational resources with the aim to create free to use, modern, cutting edge curricula that can be studied anywhere, by anyone.

The project led to an online resource that brings free quality educational content and teaching resources to a mass audience and encourages discussion within a global education community. It also enabled an open source structure that means each lesson is a communal building block for creating sequenced, high quality evolving courses with a system that monitors and evaluates each learner's progress directly online.

Changefirst

How a fully content managed corporate website was integrated with a complex range of bespoke online learning and assessment tools that are capable of tracking and managing the delegate from their first interaction to the end of their change management learning programme.

As Changefirst was moving from a purely instructor-led model of training delivery to a blended learning approach, it needed to ensure that it's online learning content was not only engaging but robust and systematic. Changefirst has chosen to certify its competent practitioners, using online learning tools for assessment as well as training. These systems needed to be secure as well as providing real-time reporting of assessments and usage. They also wanted to introduce a new range of Change Management tools into the learning suite.

The project that Preview undertook resulted in greater efficiencies, a better learner experience with improved client loyalty and integration with CRM, CMS, forums, blogs, feeds and document storage.

States of Jersey, Jersey Electricity, Jersey Telecom, Jersey Social Security, Jersey Airport

How interactive e-learning was used for induction programmes for each of these Jersey organisations. Preview built a learning application based on high quality video resources where trainees logged in with their unique ID and were required to take a short assessment. If they answered questions correctly, they would move on, if not, the trainee could try again. It was important to have good administrator privileges so that new users could easily be set up and which induction training they would participate in (depended on site and department).
